Dan Coble, RN, PhD Named President, South University - Tampa

Dr. Dan Coble, former executive director of the Florida Board of Nursing, has been named President of South University's Tampa, Fla. campus where he will be responsible for overseeing the institution's newest campus.
Before joining South University, Dr. Coble served as executive director of the Florida Board of Nursing where he was responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating work related to the licensure of nurses, certified nursing assistants, regulation of nursing practice and other functions of the Board of Nursing.
Earlier in his career he served as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Tampa where he taught graduate and undergraduate nursing students, initiated an Honor Society for Nursing and authored grant proposal and revitalized a joint Master of Nursing/Master of Business Administration program.
Dr. Coble also served as Director of Patient Services, Medical/Surgical Nursing, Nurse Manager, Pediatrics and Staff Nurse in the Pediatric ICU at Tampa General Hospital. In addition, he has professional nursing experience in hospitals in New York and Pennsylvania.
Dr. Coble has served as a Fellow and member of the Leadership Development Committee for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, and is a member of the Florida Nurses Association, American Nurses Association and various Nursing honor societies. Dr. Coble is a published author with having authored various articles on computers in nursing informatics and health care and has conducted research on false documents, decision making and misconduct.
Dr. Coble received a Ph.D. in Nursing & Decision and Information Sciences from the University of Florida, a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the State University of New York, Buffalo, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regents College, and an Associate of Arts in Nursing from Indiana University, Southeast.
